Chocolate Chunk Cookies

My niece and nephew recently decided that we needed to have a “Cookie Tea Party” where we would bake cookies and sip milk out of fancy tea cups with saucers. I was all about it!

When they came over, I chose my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe and we got to work. I found so much joy in watching these little hands smoosh butter, crack eggs, dump flour (and sneak a few chocolate chunks). Soon the aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the kitchen and we set the table for our “Cookie Tea Party”!

I’m excited to share this recipe with you and I hope it inspires many “Cookie Tea Parties” in your own home. Let’s create space to connect with those we love, especially when it includes freshly baked cookies!

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 Cup turbinado sugar

  • 1 Cup brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 3 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp baking soda, dissolved in 2 tsp water

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 3 Cups unbleached flour

  • 2 Cups dark chocolate chunks

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F

In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter and sugars. Beat in the eggs and add vanilla. Dissolve the baking soda and add to mixture. Add salt. Mix together until well incorporated. Add the flour 1 1/2 Cups at a time, while mixing. Add chocolate chunks and mix.

Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes!

Enjoy!
